CHPI was designated as a Qualified Entity (QE) through the Medicare Data Sharing Program in February 2013. CHPI was the first entity in the nation to receive Medicare data and is one of two QEs in operation in California. CHPI has received Medicare fee-for-service claims representing over 5 million California beneficiaries, and has integrated these claims with its private health plan claims data.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, part of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, have awarded the QE designation to a small number of organizations nationwide. The certification provides recognition of CHPI’s commitment to provide trustworthy information to consumers, to use rigorous methods to accurately measure and rate healthcare performance, follow strict security protocols to safeguard patient data, and publish the information for easy use by consumers.
This program has approved CHPI's methods to rate physicians, process for physicians to review and correct their results, and plans to publish ratings for the public.
